The installer fails to recognize the network card, and nothing in the installer documentation indicates how to correct this manually (the card is well supported in Linux). As it is impossible to complete the install if it doesn't have network access, I aborted the install and reported the problem via Bugzilla.

Also when I do "ifconfig" command after NIC properties I have the message: "invalid checksum 002f" Can anybody help me with that?

the PCI-based 3c905C NIC and the ISA or PnP-ISA 3C509B use different drivers (elxl and elx respectively) and usually have completely different reasons for not or a BIOS configuration problem, or forgetting to run the 3Com setup utility, or not configuring the NIC according to Sun's device config guide.
